BSW Jessica Simpson 2021 Agency Name: CONCERN Profile: CONCERN is a non - profit human services organization that works to provide child welfare, juvenile justice, and behavioral health services to children and their families. They offer services in the area of foster care, adoption and permanency, behavioral health, and residential programs. Their mission statement is, “ CONCERN brings hope, offers opportunity, and inspires change. ” Field Placement Responsibilities: I ’ ll be interning at CONCERN ’ s Fleetwood office in Berks County. I ’ ll be a foster care intake intern. My responsibilities will include reviewing incoming foster care referrals via phone and email, reaching out to potential foster care families to see if they can accept placements, and completing the intake paperwork needed to complete the placements. I ’ ll be responsible for entering the referrals into the system database as well. In addition to this, I ’ ll also at times be working with the recruitment team to try to find new foster families. This may include attending community events where I ’ ll help to hand out brochures and speak with potential families. I ’ ll also have the opportunity to go with some of the caseworkers when they make their follow - up visits to the foster family homes. Future Goals: After I complete my BSW, I plan to complete my MSW and become an LCSW. I would like to work with children and adolescents. I hope to work in either a school setting or in a private practice. Department of Social Work
