BSW Field Profiles 2021-22

BSW Paige Hart 2021 Agency Name: Aspire to Autonomy Profile: Aspire to Autonomy supports survivors of human trafficking. Their mission statement is: “ To provide an environment of safety, healing, and empowerment that will equip trafficking victims with the necessary services and programs to follow their pursuit of independence. ” We support survivors through Community Intervention Services and the Path to Autonomy Safe House. Field Placement Responsibilities: My field placement involves me being in the Path to Autonomy Safe House. At the safe house I am responsible for coordinating activities, providing support services, and assisting with daily chores and meal prepping. The safe house has several other interns and together with our supervisors, we work as a team. It is necessary that we track the services provided to clients. My other tasks include providing conflict resolution by encouraging positive methods for problem - solving, answer incoming calls and respond to program and resident inquiries, and provide on - site crisis intervention. In the future I will be creating and presenting a training video on vicarious trauma, observe during intake assessments, and shadow during individual or group therapy sessions. Future Goals: Graduating with my BSW and in the future potentially returning for my MSW. I am interested in supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, child welfare, and family and relationship therapy. Department of Social Work
