BSW Field Profiles 2019-20

Becca Schweitzer 2019 Agency Name: Berks County Children and Youth Services Profile: Berks County Children and Youth Services (BCCYS) tries to assure the physical and emotional well-being as protected by law for children 0-18. They strive to preserve, strengthen, and empower families. BCCYS investigates reports of abuse and neglect in Berks County. Field Placement Responsibilities: My field responsibility is to shadow and help the other caseworkers inmy department. This includes assisting at in-home visits, helping read over and file current and old cases, attend court sessions, assist inwatching children during court, shadowing interviews with parents and youth, and explaining the Independent Living packet and assisting when needed. Inmy field placement I aman additional resource for the caseworkers, and am there to learn from them. Future Goals: I want to work with teenagers in the system and help them be independent and successful in their lives as well as ensure they have the life skills to do so. Department of Social Work
