BSW Field Profiles 2019-20

BSW Karessa Proctor 2019 Agency Name: Kutztown University GLBT Resource Center Profile: The Kutztown University Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center's mission is to create a welcoming and inclusive campus for individuals of all genders and sexualities. The center provides LGBTQ+ resources and support, educational workshops, programs that empower and promote diversity, and a safe space that embraces individuality, authenticity and equality. Field Placement Responsibilities: Host a group discussion or event centered on LGBTQ issues from a social worker perspective. Assist in the development and coordination of center events. Assess programmatic needs of the center in regards to addressing underserved populations, and create new initiatives and policies that focus on LGBTQ issues. Complete safe space training. Attend staff meetings. Assist in workshops, tabling and special events. Actively research and educate oneself on issues surrounding the community. Future Goals: I hope to one day complete my MSW and DSW. After becoming a licensed clinical social worker, I hope to open up my own practice. I want to work with abuse survivors and empower them to beat the odds. Department of Social Work
