BSW Field Profiles 2019-20

BSW Brenden Lindsey 2019 Agency Name: Reading School District, 10th & Penn Elementary School Profile: 10th & Penn is an elementary school within the Reading School District. The school's focus is on educating all students, with the help of the community members, educators, and the parents. Their mission is to transform student potential into reality. Field Placement Responsibilities: My field placement responsibilities consist of examining major issues relative to the current school year (e.g., homelessness, parental deaths, IEP's). I also work with students and their families to address issues related to financial obstacles that prohibit the purchase of necessary school supplies that enhance and support their learning. I also work with the parents to assist them in identifying appropriate agencies and resources. These tasks allowme to be educated on state law and school district policy. I also regularly observe and facilitate classroom lessons that support teacher and staff efforts to increase students social and emotional skills, to enhance their academic success and overall wellbeing. Future Goals: My future goal is to further my education, by going to graduate school and receiving my MSW. With that degree I want to begin doing social work in the elementary school setting, while also working on my LCSW. Department of Social Work
