BSW Field Profiles 2019-20

BSW Julia Laudadio 2019 Agency Name: Church World Service in Lancaster, PA Profile: Church World Service works with churches, organizations, and individuals volunteers to provide help and homes for refugees, asylum seekers, and other displaced persons. Through collaborative effort between Resettlement, Health, Employment, and Legal service programs, the collective goal is client self-sufficiency. Field Placement Responsibilities: I am the Preferred Communities Program intern. I work with individual clients whose needs include physical and mental health treatment. My responsibilities are conducting home visits, assisting with transportation to and from doctor appointments, empowering clients to attend these on their own, and managing translation services to ensure the client's self -determination is taken first and foremost into account. I am responsible for coordinating healthcare services and brokering clients to these types of resources in the community. Our ultimate goal is to empower our clients to become active members of their community independent from the agency. As such, one of my responsibilities is to ensure progress with Client Self- Sufficiency Plans developed between Intensive Case Manager and client. Future Goals: I hope to attend Bogazici Univ. Graduate Program of Social Policy and continue in academia. Some of my areas of interest include needs of displaced persons and global responses to humanitarian crises. Department of Social Work
