BSW Field Profiles 2019-20

BSW Morgan Harper 2019 Agency Name: Valley Youth House - Synergy Project Profile: Synergy Project is a street outreach program run through Valley Youth House. Synergy works directly with homeless youth, by providing any survival supplies they need, peer support, informal counseling and brokering them to shelters and other agencies. Synergy's main focus is to find housing for homeless youth, and provide themwith resources in the meantime to ensure they can live safely on the streets. Field Placement Responsibilities: My responsibilities at my field placement are to learn how to professionally and ethically work one on one with clients and to perform an intake. I am also responsible for reaching out to the community to educate them on Synergy Project and what they do for the homeless youth of Allentown. I am also responsible for completing referrals for youth to apply for job training, along with food stamp or health insurance applications. Along with this, I am responsible for helping supply youth with needed survival supplies. Future Goals: My future goals are to further my education by getting into an MSW program. My future career goals are to work in the field at a micro level with youth suffering from homelessness related to substance abuse disorder Department of Social Work
