BSW Lauren Garuccio 2019 Agency Name: Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living Profile: Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living (LVCIL) is a non- profit organization that serves the population of people with all types of disabilities and helps them reach independence within their lives. The agency provides services in the categories of housing, transition & employment, sign language interpreting, emergency preparedness, accessibility services, job coaching, independent living skills coaching, and overall advocacy. Field Placement Responsibilities: I am currently working closely in the transition & employment services, where I work with consumers ages 16 -21 learn independent living skills such as how to get a job, how to keep a job, finding what jobs they are interested in, how to build a resume/ portfolio, and how to be successful in an interview setting. I also participate in various meetings in the agency that sometimes have to do with safety or training. I am expected to review the agenda prior to the meeting and contribute an input of mine. My field supervisor expects me to become familiar with all the departments in the agency and educate myself on what each one does. Future Goals: My future goals include obtaining a Masters degree in Social Work and finding a career that focuses on mental health or working with children. Down the line, I would love to openmy own practice. Department of Social Work
