BSW Field Profiles 2018-19

BSW Eric Bevan 2018-2019 Agency Name: KidsPeace - Temple, PA Profile: KidsPeace is dedicated to introduce social, communication, and teamwork skills to the students and have them practice these skills in different activities during the after school program. Children are also encouraged to work on their personal goals, which could be impulse control, expressing more positive sentiments, or remaining more attentive, and discussing progress with the clients and their families. Field Placement Responsibilities: My role is similar to that of a Team Assistant (TMA) at their after school program. I am tasked with assisting staff on van runs to pick up clients from their normal school and conversing with the clients to help them feel more comfortable while at our program. I assist in providing instructions for our daily activities, which are meant to teach the clients social, teamwork, coping, and interaction skills that will be relevant to their daily lives. I also assist in writing take-home notes that monitor client progress while at the program, then discuss their progress with the parents to determine if there is any need for a change to their service plan or personal goal. Future Goals: After completing the BSW program, I would like to continue working with children and youth facilities. I believe children should be provided help whenever needed.
