BSW Field Profiles 2018-19

BSW Hannah Alpha 2018 - 2019 Agency Name: Valley Youth House - Lehigh Valley Shelter Profile: Lehigh Valley Shelter in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency shelter to homeless youth, ages 12 - 17 years old. The shelter offers individualized, brief counseling and crisis intervention model within a Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework. Field Placement Responsibilities: My role at Lehigh Valley Shelter will be conducting intakes and safety plans, utilizing trauma informed practices, facilitating in crisis intervention with MAB (Managing Aggressive Behavior), leading group activities, participating in policy trainings, educating youth and family of their resources, and advocating for youth rights. Future Goals: When I graduate with my BSW, I plan to earn my MSW at Kutztown University, obtain my license, and strive to educate the community in order to positively change the rights of women and children on a macro level.
