BSW Field Profiles 2018-19

BSW Jessica Heverling 2018-2019 Agency Name: Valley Youth House- Camp Fowler Profile: Camp Fowler's after school program is designed to reach children who are at risk of placement. Their focus is based on recreational therapy to help youth develop new skills and hobbies that will keep them from reverting back to delinquent behaviors. Field Placement Responsibilities: I am responsible for safely transporting the children to and from the facility, assisting them with their homework, researching beneficial recreational activities, planning and facilitating group meetings that encourage self-sufficiency, implementing policy, helping the youth make home cooked meals and encouraging the kids to use healthy coping skills when faced with high stress situations. Future Goals: My goal as a future social worker is to improve the lives of people who suffer from mental health disorders and substance addictions. Department of Social Work
