BSW Field Profiles 2018-19

BSW Robert Herbert 2018-2019 Agency Name: Reading Intermediate High School Profile: Reading Intermediate High School aims to provide its students with the necessary academic and behavioral background to transform their potential into reality. They do this by maintaining a warm, welcoming learning environment, a well-structured and evidence-based curriculum, a competent set of faculty leaders and educators, and a positive relationship between the district and the community. Field Placement Responsibilities: My field placement responsibilities include observing individual student sessions, peer conflict mediations, and meetings with displaced students, identifying community resources for displaced students and mental health services, and brokering these resources to the students in need through individual sessions and community-wide intervention. More than anything, my function in the field context is to build rapport to the students, engage with them, and make fundamental assessments that will be juxtaposed to the social worker's assessments for practice evaluation. Future Goals: After completing my education, I look to establish myself as a refined, competent school social worker in a high school, working with students in need of professional guidance.
