BSW Field Profiles 2018-19

BSW Samantha Ceballo 2018-2019 Agency Name: KidsPeace Sacred Heart Campus Profile: KidsPeace’s mission is to give hope, help, and healing to children , families, and communities by helping people overcome challenges by providing emotional and physical healthcare in an atmosphere of teamwork, compassion, and creativity. KidsPeace Sacred Heart provides outpatient services, including therapy and medication management, to Lehigh Valley community members above the age of 3. Field Placement Responsibilities: In my placement at KidsPeace Sacred Heart Campus, I have various responsibilities. During my time at my internship, I work at the front end of the office answering the phone, scheduling and rescheduling appointments, interacting with Spanish only clients, and assisting with the preparation of consent forms for intakes. Aside from working in the front with the caseworkers, I sit in and participate in therapy sessions, conduct bio-psycho-social assessments, help create treatment plans, and broker services to clients. Each day is always different and each case requires a different set of skills due to the wide client population that is served at KidsPeace. Some days I spend the entire day up front with the caseworkers while others I spend working with the therapists providing therapy. Future Goals: When I graduate with my BSW, I will be pursuing a Masters Degree in School Counseling at Marywood University or The University of Scranton as I hope to work in a high school as a guidance counselor.
