Life in the Community ACE – Association of Campus Events plans many activities for students and is a great way to get involved on campus. APD (Airport Diner) – The Airport Diner has good food at a good price. Add/Drop – The period at the start of each semester when you are able to drop a class without penalty and add a class. Admin – The Stratton Administration Center is where you can find many student services, like the Career Devel- opment Center, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and the Registrar’s Office. AF – The Academic Forum has lecture halls, dining facilities, the mail center, KU Card Office and Starbucks. Angry Chicken – Refers to the clock tower above Old Main, which looks like an angry chicken from a certain angle. Bear Bucks – Money stored on your Kutztown ID card that you can use as a debit card. Bear Bucks can be used at the Dining Halls or various places on- and off-campus. CA – Community Assistant: an undergraduate student who lives on your floor in your residence hall. CA’s plan programs and provide important information you may need during the year. CASA – Center for Academic Success and Achievement in Rohrbach Library. Cub Cafe – The cafeteria located on the second floor of the McFarland Student Union. DeFran – The DeFrancesco Building is the home to the College of Business. Dixon Marketplace – KU merchandise and convenience store located at the bottom of Dixon Hall, by the South Dining Hall. DMZ – The grassy area in the middle of the residence halls on the south side of campus. Keystone – Refers to the indoor gym where basketball, volleyball, swimming, and other sports games are held. It is also the name of the school newspaper. Prereq – (prerequisite) A course you need to take before you can take another. ResNet – The Residence Hall Network: a free student service for help with computer repairs and connectivity. Located in Johnson Hall Syllabus – A document your pro- fessor gives you the first week of class detailing coursework, deadlines and grading/attendance policies of the professor. SGB – Student Government Board rep- resents students’ opinions and oversees the Student Activity Fee. SUB – Renamed the David E. McFarland Student Union or MSU. Probably one of the most popular spots on campus. This building contains a variety of offices such as ACE, CON- NECTIONS, SGB, Veterans Center, Community Outreach Center and the Office of Student Involvement. You can also find the Campus Store, Cub Café, Starbucks, Kutztown University Radio, PSECU and much more! South – Refers to one of two locations. One is Golden Bear Village South (the apartments behind University Place). The other is South Dining Hall (which is Kutztown’s main cafeteria on the south end of campus). Tree of Knowledge – The fountain located on the south end of campus in the middle of the DMZ. TriCounty – The triangle formed by the dorms of Lehigh, Berks, and Schuykill. The dorms are named after three counties surrounding Kutztown. West – Golden Bear Village West is a collection of small town house apartments next to Rothermel Hall. The Waterfall – (The Alumni Fountain) the large fountain on north campus near Boehm and the Graduate Center. Check out the color lights at night. 222 – The main road in and out of Kutztown. Main Street is Old 222, while the current 222 loops around town on a bypass. 39
