Life on Campus The Residence Life Office oversees the experience of living on campus offering live-in learning opportunities which empower our students in their personal and scholastic growth, while providing a welcoming and inclusive environment that is safe for all community members. The Residence Life Staff is committed to creating an environment that is not only welcoming and inclusive but also engaging and fun. Through the programs and activities provided within your hall, you will get to meet people and form new friendships, gain a better understanding not only of yourself but also those around you, as well as develop a sense of community and belonging. It is our hope that your residence hall will quickly become your home away from home. Roommates To submit a request and confirm an eligible roommate we are using a new rooming matching software called MyCollege Roomie. For more information go to: https://www.kutztown.edu/housing Housing questions may be directed to: housing@kutztown.edu . All roommate requests must be entered and confirmed by June 23. We cannot guarantee roommate re- quests based on student eligibility and availability of open double rooms. Move-in Day New freshman check-in will take place on August 24, 2019. (CHECK MAILING FOR TIMES) All resident freshman students will be sent ONE colored parking permit (corresponding to their housing assignment) and a map with directions on entering the campus. THIS INFORMATION SHOULD BE RECEIVED DURING THE FIRST WEEK IN AUGUST. Please contact your roommate to discuss what you can share. About the Hall Staff The Assistant Resident Directors (ARD): Experienced, undergraduate (junior or senior) members of the Residence Life Team are supervised by the Resident Director and are responsible to the As- sistant Director in the areas of schedul- ing and timecards. They are responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the front desk, as well as assisting the Resident Director in the areas of staff supervision, leadership development, and administrative tasks. The Assistant Resident Director is a live-in, student employment position within Residence Life. The Community Assistant (CA): An undergraduate member of the Residence Life staff and is supervised by the Resident Director. CAs establish a rapport with resident students and assist these students in the adjustment to community living and the university. Community Assistants clearly commu- nicate, implement, and/or enforce Uni- versity policies and Housing, Residence Life, and Dining Services procedures. They are responsible for overseeing the residents in areas related to community development, responsible community membership, programming, communication, intervention and medi- ation, as well as providing leadership to the entire hall when active in the duty rotation. CAs are valuable resources for our residential students. Desk Receptionists (DR): Serve as the first point of contact for our residents, their families, and guests. They are an information resource for the campus and a vital part of the community building process that takes place in the residence halls. Desk Receptionists play a key role in making the halls a home away from home for our students. The Resident Director (RD): A graduate student and a member of Kutztown University’s Residence Life Team, the Resident Director is responsible for student success and retention through efficient day-to-day operation of a residence hall while adhering to the mission and core values of the department. Special Interest Housing Special Interest Housing is a program that offers the same benefits and ideals as the Living Learning Communities offer to our students.
